Gutter installation in Port Royal covers two very different kinds of houses. The historic town core dates mostly from 1870 to 1930, while the newest homes are still being framed. A&A Island Services installs gutters for both, and you can get a free estimate by calling (843) 505-1389.
Matching Gutters to Port Royal Cottages, New Builds and Waterfront Lots
Port Royal has grown fast. The 2020 census counted 14,220 residents, up from 10,678 in 2010, and the Island Packet reported in 2024 that the town had 1,552 housing units approved or in permitting: 462 apartments, 943 townhouses and 147 single-family homes. New construction like that is where seamless gutters and Galvalume gutters fit best. On townhouses, we plan downspouts so each unit drains on its own and a long connected run does not overload one outlet.
The Old Village calls for a different approach. Pro Builder reported in 1999 that the town had many bungalows from the 1900 to 1920 period, and the preservation manual used next door in Beaufort notes that gutters of that era were generally half-round. A half-round profile, in painted metal or copper gutters that weather to a patina, keeps an older house looking like itself. If your home is on the town's Historic Landmark List, which names houses on Paris Avenue, London Avenue, Old Shell Road and several numbered streets, the Historic Preservation Commission reviews exterior alterations through a certificate of appropriateness under the Secretary of the Interior's Standards. The application form does not list gutters, so ask the Planning Office first.
Size for the storms, not the averages. NOAA's normals for Beaufort MCAS show about 5.6 days each summer with an inch of rain or more. On lots along Battery Creek and the Beaufort River, we also look at which runs face the wind off the water before choosing metal and fasteners.
